2009 Memorial Day Observance

Addressed by Parkman trustees Patrick Joyce, Kevin O'Reilly, and Lucinda Shape-Gates, Parkman hosted an annual tribute to Parkman Veterans.  This year we honored the Gotham Brothers -  John, Carlisle, Glen, Neil, and Leland.

Memorial Day 2009 Edition. 

Following this salute was a parade to the lower cemetery and a traditional Flag raising by the Boy Scout Troop #76 at the Parkman Memorial Park while the Cardinal High School Marching Band played.  Continuing to the Lower Cemetery, a salute with rifles finished the ceremony.

Special thanks to all of Parkman Veterans for serving our country!

The Parkman Boyscout Troop 76  raised the flag and put the ceremonial wreath onto the Veteran Memorial.

 

The Cardinal Marching Band played the National Anthem while the flag was raised.

 

 

The Middlefield Post placed symbolic items onto the memorial to honor  the Veterans.

 

Tom Gotham presented a story of the Gotham Brothers and their family.

 

Father Burkley of St Edwards gave a prayer for all of the past and present veterans and active military

 

.

In the town center, the Boy Scout Troop 79 raised the flag into half mast..  Once completed the Parkman Parade continued to the lower cemetery.
 

The parade marched from Overlook Park to Town Square to continue the traditional ceremonies.

At Parkman's lower cemetery, the ceremony continued as the Veteran salute had similar activities as the Overlook tribute.
